Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Moschburg with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Moschburg. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrew below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Moschburg with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I’ve been accused of being a workaholic who works until my back strains, my feet ache, and my head begins to splint because hard work is what I was raised on. I was an unorthodox military brat, moving from here to there and seeing half the world before I was 17. My father always told me to do the best I can at all I do, and I will get something out of it. I put everything I have into my Art, mind, body, and soul. Witnessing my father’s hard work and his peers, I’ve always had positive role models. Like my mother, she was one of the hardest working people I know, raising three crazy kids. Growing up, I knew nothing could phase her; if it did, she never showed it. This upbringing, intertwined with my passion for creating works of Art, is where I get my work ethic from. Like a soldier, I will work until the job gets done; losing is never an option. Like my mother, despite any obstacles that come my way, I will overcome them and prevail. This drive, combined with a deep passion for the arts, is why I paint like every painting could be my last—always trying to take my Art to the next level. In the end, I want to be the best version of myself I can possibly be.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an American Artist known for his Murals, Public Art, and Canvases. I travel across Florida painting for private collectors, galleries, cities, and commercial projects. Moschburg Art is a reflection of the soul. An attempt to capture the unique qualities of life, those moments you can’t put into words. The most exciting part of my career is traveling to new destinations and meeting art-minded people. My favorite is when the Art is finished, and I get to step back and share that moment with the collector. With each painting I produce, I try to best myself and create something unlike anything I’ve ever done. My Art is always lively, bursting with colors and dramatic shading, telling a subliminal story about myself and the collector. This year my Art will go international. I am traveling to Spain for six weeks for an art residency in the Canary Islands. There I will experience an exciting new culture and infuse it into my Art. It’s the adventures like these that ignite my soul. The combination of Art and travel is like a drug I can’t get enough of. Trying new foods, seeing exotic lands, and intertwining these into a visual fable on canvas is what I live for. Experiences like this which is why I won’t stop until I paint the world.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My mother always quoted famous poet, William Langland, “Patience is a virtue,” a phrase I’ve come to live by. In Art, patience is the special ingredient to creating mastery. Like watching paint dry, the art world can begin slow and unpromising. However, if you patiently await the storm, the clearing will be a beautiful tropical scenery out of your deepest fantasies. When I started, certain canvases could take me six months to a year to finish. Spending that much time on a canvas in my youth was equivalent to a lifetime. This fine tune to details separated me from other artists—taking over eight years for my art career to kick off. Anything is possible with a bit of patience.
Applying this patience with passion is a recipe for success. My love for Art is where this journey began. No one had to remind me to paint. After a long shift of washing dishes, cooking, and cleaning, I would come home with zero energy and would always find a way to paint. Nothing could separate me from my easel. At work, I would spend time thinking about my next painting and stroke. My mind is forever on Art.
Patience and passion were necessary to create a successful piece of Art. However, I needed something more to craft my life into a full fledge artist career. I needed help. This was when the greatest component of my success came about, teamwork. I banded with a team to combine our knowledge and push my Art to the next level. Ericka Kesting took over all management of the business. Using her management expertise combined with my Artist mind was the secret to success. I believe teamwork is the most essential strategy for a successful business. We always had each other’s backs and kept our chins up so that when we fell, we always got up, more extensive, wiser, and more robust. With teamwork, anything is possible.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Our highest level of growth is consistency. Initially, having one project every two or three months was the norm. However, we broke through barriers through hard work, determination, and teamwork. Today the average month is loaded with gigs and our next leads. We are constantly working to book the next project. Now we have back-to-back projects with no time to spare. This is just the beginning. We started Moschburg LLC in 2021, and it’s been a rollercoaster ride ever since. However, we will continue to grow consistently, never looking back, and continue moving forward, because no hard work goes unseen.
